Friday 11 October

As part of the festival’s commitment to making poetry available to everyone, poets Linda France, Bob Beagrie and Julie Hogg are running poetry-workshops today at Evolve, The Walled Garden and the Jennyruth Workshops.

7.30pm - Kate Fox: Where There's Muck, There's Bras

Stand-up poet Kate Fox celebrates in verse the real Northern Powerhouse – the inspirational women of the North of England. It’s a hilarious and thought-provoking show about the hidden history of women writers, sportswomen, scientists, politicians, protestors and musicians, including Helen Sharman, Britain’s first astronaut; the first female speaker of the House of Commons, Betty Boothroyd; and music hall star Hylda Baker.

7.30pm, Spa Hotel, Park Street £9/£6
